Kempton Park police arrest ATM card scammer
Brig Lindani Ndlovu, the Kempton Park SAPS station commander, has appealed to the community to remain watchful at all times and not allow strangers to help them at ATMs.
Police have arrested a 44-year-old suspect who allegedly robbed a 14-year-old victim at an ATM at the Pick n Pay retail complex in Brentwood Park on January 10.

The girl was allegedly directed by her mother to withdraw cash from the nearest ATM that day at around 09:00.
The suspect reportedly promised to help the victim at the ATM and then swapped the cards and handed the victim the incorrect card.
The victim’s mother got a message on her smartphone stating the money was being withdrawn; however, she soon recognised that she had the wrong card. While still in the same complex, the victim observed the suspect and alerted security, who checked the suspect and discovered the card and R3 200 in cash.
The police were called and the suspect was apprehended. He will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon to face theft charges.
