The Ekurhuleni District Trio Task Team nabbed the four suspects.

Two of the suspects were apprehended in Ivory Park Extension Two, while the other two were apprehended in Thembisa.

During investigations, police discovered two weapons and 15 rounds of ammunition from one of the suspects at his rented home in Norkem Park, Kempton Park.

“Those rifles’ serial numbers had been removed. The suspects in the possession of firearms case already appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court,” station commander of Ivory Park SAPS Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo said.

The suspects are repeat offenders who have also been charged with a murder case in addition to the robberies.
“During the robbery, one individual was shot inadvertently, apparently by one of the criminals. The recovered firearms will be transferred to the SAPS’ ballistics division to see if they were used in any other crimes.”

Ngcobo welcomed the breakthrough in the investigations.

“We believe that our local businesses will experience some form of relief as these four suspects were removed from the streets. The public should rest assured that further investigations into these robberies and these suspects are continuing,” said Ngcobo.

Ngcobo called on the public to continue to be the eyes and ears of the police.
