Man dies in single-vehicle crash

"The driver was extricated from the wreckage using Jaws of Life; he had died from his injuries."

A man was killed in a single-vehicle collision on the R21 freeway southbound after the Pomona Road off-ramp on Sunday.

William Ntladi, spokesperson for Ekurhuleni DEMS, said reports about the collision was received at 10:00.

“Albertina Sisulu Corridor Fire Station was dispatched to attend the scene.

“On arrival, responders found a single sedan vehicle that had seemingly lost control and rammed into the street light pole. The vehicle came to a stop on a road sign pillar post,” said Ntladi.

“The driver was extricated from the wreckage using Jaws of Life; he had died from his injuries. The man was declared dead by paramedics on scene.”
