Future Initiative makes a difference through drug abuse awareness
Through campaigns, referrals and support, the organisation aims to raise awareness and educate people about the risks of drugs.
With the Love Your Lungs Campaign, Future Initiative took the first step towards promoting a drug-free environment.

The programme aims to motivate those who are prone to substance abuse and those who consider abandoning the fight against addiction.
The Future Initiative secretary, Christina Sidumo, stated the programme will encourage more youth to abstain from drugs, as well as addicts to find ways to quit and educate others about the dangers of using them.
“We live in a society that has rejected addicts or, more accurately, has displayed rejection behaviour against addicts,” said Sidumo.
“I believe drug abuse is linked to family issues, failures of specific goals, oppression and a lack of support from parents and others.

“Instead of judging, let’s lift each other up and restore lost hope.
“We call on government stakeholders to come and play their part, ward councillors to step in and help create local jobs for young people to empower them, more centralised rehab centres and drug abuse centres to open. We also need the community to never stop working towards the change they want to see,” said Sidumo.
The organisation seeks the help of professionals from sectors, including social workers, rehabs and psychologists, as well as people who have previously overcome addiction.
