Members at the Kempton Park SPCA are always thinking of ways to raise funds.
A Quiz Night on March 17 was one of the fun ways members of the society aimed to raise some much-needed funds.
Themed St Patrick’s Day, the quiz was held at the Kempton Park Golf Club.
To observe and honour St Patrick’s Day, some of the people who supported the initiative were seen dressed in green or wearing a green hat.
The audience’s general knowledge was out to the test during the quiz that had them scratch their heads and try hard to resist the temptation of searching for some of the answers on the internet.
Bags of dog food were also donated, as they formed part of the entrance fee. This was greatly appreciated by the manager at the local society, Kira Sparrow.
“It was a great turnout, truly humbled by the people who supported us. The Quiz Night took a two-year hiatus, but we are happy for the love and support with the return of the quiz.”
Kevin and Toni Williams, Craig Harris and Debbie Griffiths formed the group, The Moonshiners, who walked away as the winners of the quiz with 29 points. The Carbs fell into second place with 28 and a half points, missing first place by a half and leading the third-placed group, Petrol Bomb Patties, by a point and a half as they managed to get 27 points.
Ian Griffiths was not in the winning team but luck was definitely on his side as he was the winner of the two raffle gifts taking home a box of coffee mugs and a chocolate hamper.
“We met lots of people and had lots of fun as well. Thank you to everyone who supported and helped make the event the success it was,” said Sparrow.
“The donations will definitely go a long way in helping the animals. We appreciate every one of you.”
