The cycling team of Tour De Frontline conquered Johannesburg on March 21 to raise over R2-million for charities, including those in Thembisa.
“Tour De Frontline rides for causes and aims at raising funds for different initiatives,” said founding member Semoli Makhanoi.
The tour, founded in 2020, focuses on giving education, food security, mental health and childhood development to the less fortunate while also keeping healthy with a few bicycle trips around town.
This year, the tour cyclists faced a gruelling challenge, with four different cities to cover around Johannesburg in just four days. Over 90 cyclists covered the distance of 650km.
With this tour, they aimed at raising funds for Thembisa community charities like Arebaokeng Hospice and Palliative Care Centre.
“We wanted to raise R1-million, but we went beyond and raise R2.2-m,” said Makhanoi.
