IEB headhunts local teacher

Monique Olivier has been a teacher at Shangri-La academy for nine years and has 20 years experience in the education field.

Monique Olivier, who has been a teacher at Shangri-la Academy for nine years, was headhunted by the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) in April.

She was approached by the IEB to mark the 2022 Business Studies supplementary matric exams.

According to Shaun Pozyn, the head of marketing at Shangri-La Academy, ‘find your passion and success will follow’ is a principle that Olivier has upheld her entire life.

“Olivier is the accounting and business studies teacher at the school and her principle has never been truer,” said Pozyn.

The dedicated teacher has been a shaper of young minds for over 20 years and is teaching Grades Eight to 12 at the local academy.

“She has shared her love for accounting and business studies with the young ones. She has always tried to instill a passion for life-long learning,” said Pozyn.

Oliver will be part of a handful of teachers throughout South Africa that will mark the 2022 business studies matric supplementary exam.

Principal Stanton Jones said he was pleased to have the schools’ teacher considered to be of a caliber that is needed in marking the exams.

“We are extremely proud of Olivier being proactively selected by the IEB to be an exam marker. This is a true testament to the high caliber of the academy’s staff and the high standards that we strive for,” said Jones.
