Zonke Ranyadi has begun a drive to collect and provide sanitary pads to young girls and learners who cannot afford to purchase it.
She was motivated by her modelling ambition to make a difference and contribute to the lives of her fellow community members, as well as sisters.
The campaign has been running since June 1 and will continue until June 30.
According to Ranyadi, Covid-19 has significantly reduced the number of women with access to sanitary pads.

“During ‘that time of the month’ some of these young women are forced to use unsanitary objects such as old material.
“Menstruation causes girls to miss school and stay at home. The taboo around menstruation restricts women’s and girls’ capacity to participate equally in society.
“It lowers their social status and lowers their self-esteem.
“We aim to empower and support girls and women.”
