No response on Norkem power outage

A local resident, Antoinette Dorfling said her health is affected by the use of generators.

Despite a request for feedback on the recent power outage in Norkem Park sent in mid-June, the City of Ekurhuleni had still not commented weeks later.

The power outages left residents without power for four days.

Antoinette Dorfling said her neighbours resorted to using a generator, which affected her health.
Dorfling said it costs over R425 to consult with her doctor.

“The doctor was not too concerned because I am on asthma medication that keeps my chest open. My concern is that this will become an ongoing issue with the electricity in this area.

“I even personally went to the energy department to find out why there is no power, but the chief engineer was not there,” said Dorfling.

“Now we have load-shedding too which can damage appliances. The old infrastructure in Kempton Park is likely to continue failing time after time,” said Dorfling.
