Hijacked Fochville vehicle found in Van Riebeeck Park

The three alleged hijack suspects are aged between 29 and 31.

Three suspects were arrested on charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle on Friday.

Although the vehicle was allegedly hijacked in Fochville, it was recovered in Van Riebeeck Park.

“Constable SJ Mabasa and Constable MB Makia, from EMPD Ekurhuleni North Region, received information of a hijacked motor vehicle, a silver Toyota Hilux, from the tracking company,” said Sergeant Barbara-Anne Ferreira, spokesperson for SAPS Service Ekurhuleni North District.

“The members followed up the information and, together with the tracking company helicopter, spotted the vehicle on P91 (R25) and chased it to De Villiers Avenue, in Van Riebeeck Park.

“The members arrested three suspects, aged between 29 and 31, for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle. EMPD towed the vehicle to the pound.

“The suspects were detained at Norkem Park SAPS pending their appearance in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.”
