Kempton court sentences man 15 years for tampering with railway infrastructure

Security personnel employed by PRASA was on duty on June 23 at the Birchleigh train station when he noticed a man tampering with railway pipes.

Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court sentenced Mlambo Shawn (30) to 15 years’ imprisonment and declared him unfit to possess a firearm on August 2.

Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Dipou Ditshego said security personnel employed by PRASA was on duty on June 23 at the Birchleigh train station when he noticed a man tampering with railway pipes.

“The police were summoned and the suspect was arrested and detained in Kempton Park cells.

“Detective Tebogo Modika’s hard work and dedication paid off when the accused was found guilty of tampering with essential infrastructure and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment,” said Ditshego.
