Water levels in the City of Ekurhuleni region are critically low due to high consumption and stage 2 water restrictions by Rand Water.

In a media statement issued by the City’s spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini, the city appealed for reduced water so that reservoir levels can recover.
The statement said the city has employed various measures to improve the reservoir levels.
“Among those is the reduction of water pressure in areas with high consumption, and closing of outlet valves at night to allow the reservoir levels to build up,” the statement added.
Furthermore, the city prioritises all major burst pipes and leaks to contain water losses.
According to the statement, as of yesterday, the following reservoirs are experiencing low pressure to no water:
- Central Reservior – 0.00%
- Knoppiesfontein Res – 0%
- Sunny Ridge – 0.48%
- Sunnyridge – 1.4%
- Daveyton Res – 10%
- Voggelfontein – 11%
- Primrose – 16%
- Etwatwa x9 – 18.74%
- Russel – 22%
- Kwa-Thema 2 Res – 33.04%
- Kwa-Thema 1 Res – 35.83
- Etwatwa EXT 19 Res – 39%
- Cossins Road Res – 43.87%
- Cossins – 44%
- Sallies – 45%
- Kempton West – 50%
“The public is reminded of the prohibition of irrigation between 07:00 and 17:00, and stringent enforcement of water supply by-laws regarding illegal connections, water use, and any other water-related contravention.

“The city has dispatched water tankers to provide water to the affected areas.
“Residents are encouraged to fix leaks in their properties, and to report leaks and pipe bursts on the municipal water reticulation network on 0860 543 000, My CoE App or social media platforms,” the statement read.
