On the morning of December 6, the men were arrested at their homes in Kaalfontein and Ivory Park respectively.

They are accused of stabbing a 34-year-old man on December 2 at Ext 6 in Ivory Park after a fight fueled by alcohol.

The deceased and his two other friends intended to utilise the suspect’s residence to pass through on their way out of a tavern, but the suspect was having none of it.

This is according to Captain Ben Matimulane of the Ivory Park SAPS.

The deceased was stabbed once in the back during an argument and succumbed to his injury upon his arrival at the hospital.

“I am pleased that our officers have worked around the clock to ensure that this unnecessary and tragic incident is dealt with and for the family of the deceased to enjoy closure,” said Ngcobo.

Ngcobo says although Operation Safer Festive Season has a lot of boots on the ground, the police need all the help they can get from the public to solve crimes, including the other murders that occurred in Ivory Park over the previous week.

The two men are due to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate Court to face a murder charge.
