Kempton bikers embrace the Christmas spirit
The bikers started their journey on loud bikes from Harvesters Pub and Grill to the Children’s home in Birchleigh.
Several bikers made donations to Môrester Child and Youth Care Centre on December 3.

Embracing the Christmas spirit, the bikers from Mustangs East Rand, Blood In Blood Out and Back Bone Bikers, among others, embarked on a motorcade to the children’s home in Birchleigh, Kempton Park.
The children from previously disadvantaged backgrounds were treated to a wonderful lunch after receiving gifts from a biker Santa Clause.
Centre manager Salome Pieters, thanked those involved. “As the children’s home, we are grateful for this occasion.
“The donations will go a long way as the children will forever remember that they too are special and there are people in the community who recognise them and don’t label them negatively,” said Pieterse.
Centre manager at Môrester’s second house, Wilma Pretorius, said the children did not have people of this quantity come to the home in two years.
“This kind of visit puts a smile on the children’s faces as they feel they belong.

“The children don’t go out as other children do and when they do is when they go to school or for extra-mural activities.
“Covid-19 was tough for the children as they had to stay indoors and they didn’t have opportunities to interact with other people,” said Pretorius.
Adriaan Venter, better known as Scruffy said the children’s home was found on Facebook and donations were made through two companies in the Kempton Park community.
“What we hoped to achieve through today’s donation is to bring dignity to the children. We thought we could donate stationery and a couple of other items they needed and we hope it will bring relief this festive season.
“We would also like to thank the sponsors who made the event possible including Macsteel and A&J valves.”
Venter said next year the group plans on donating items to The Baby House as well as Môrester Child and Youth Care Centre.
