Pfarelo Maphangula, in partnership with Codejika, a coding company operating in different schools in Africa, donated 18 computers to Thuto ke Maatla Comprehensive School in Maokeng section, on January 25.

Thandi Mahlangu claims that these computers were given as a gift so that they could assist the students with learning to code as part of a programme that will be carried out with the school.
“The programme will teach the learners fundamental languages like HTML and CSS, which will help them understand how to build websites.
“The learners will receive certificates at the conclusion of the project to demonstrate that they have successfully completed the programme, and this will also enable them to participate in different IT programmes as they pursue their interests in other areas since they will have a background in software and website development.
“We are implementing this initiative as a result of realising that our township schools require improvement in order to keep up with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Being the change we want to see and the notion that it truly takes a village to raise a child are two things we hold dear.

“The significant youth unemployment rate was a factor in the campaign.
Since the majority of professions now demand knowledge of computers or IT, we recognised the need to teach the kids skills that would better help them to obtain employment outside of the classroom.
“The community can support us the next time by helping us maintain the computers we have given to the schools, to safeguard the school’s resources, and to participate by giving resources that might help develop our young.
“South Africa can be a better place if we all play our role. I am appealing to the community to join hands in raising our youth.

Mahlangu states that the organisation works to help young people develop their leadership abilities, donate food to other communities, and keep them off the streets by offering courses in reading, coding, and computer literacy.
“Youth Leadership Organisation is based in Thembisa and Codejika has their offices in Sandton but assists different communities.
“The project aims to make our schools a location where students may acquire in-demand skills, including schools in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and promote growth outside the confines of the educational system.
“Youth Leadership Organisation was started by Pfarelo Maphangula, while Codejika was started by Rachel, Jonathan, Sibusiso, and Thandi Mahlangu.
