Local social club reaches to learners in need
Donations ceased in 2020 after the pandemic hit but the club has worked hard to bring the initiative back to life.
Members of the Bakgotse Social Club gave back to less fortunate school children on February 9.

The club used to donate to learners at Tembisa High School every year, however, donations ceased in 2020 after the pandemic hit.
The club is now working hard to bring the initiative back to life.
According to one member of the club, donations are now made every two years.
The club recently hosted a golf day at Kyalami Golf Club to raise funds needed for the Tembisa High School handover.
Many of the players invited to participate were school learners who attended the school.

One of the youngest female golf players was also invited to the charity tee off.
Among the items donated to the children were school uniforms, stationery, and school bags.
“The reason why we chose Tembisa High School is because most of us attended the school during our youth.
“We understand the struggle of coming from an underprivileged background and trying to keep up with academics.
“That’s why we took it upon ourselves to say that learners should not have to worry about school uniforms, or stationery, but only focus on their academics,” said John Mngadi, a member of the Bakgotse Social Club.
Teachers and learners at the school were delighted to receive the much needed donations.
“It’s a very humbling experience for us to see the young ones appreciate the little that we can do for them.
“We also hope that it will be sufficient for them to be able to make us proud and excel in their academics,” said Mngadi.
