Illegal dumping along Pretoria Road frustrates Glen Marais residents

Glen Marais residents have expressed growing frustration over increasing illegal dumping along Pretoria Road, opposite Birchleigh Station.

Residents claim the area was initially used by nearby builders who dumped excess construction material, including large amounts of soil and bricks.

However, they say the problem has continued to escalate as more people began dumping household waste after seeing that little action was being taken to address the issue.

One resident, who requested anonymity, expressed disappointment at the disregard shown by those who continue to dump waste illegally.

“It is disgusting that people do this, but I blame the government for not providing more dumping sites. I hate seeing people throw Coke bottles and cigarette boxes out of moving vehicles.

“The worst part is that even law enforcement officials litter; they are not leading by example,” he said.

Residents are calling for action to address illegal dumping and to hold those responsible accountable.

Kempton Express approached the City of Ekurhuleni for comment, but no official response had been received by the time of publication.
