Operation by law enforcement leads to several arrests
Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.
Between March 17 and March 23, Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 97 suspects and recovered 44 motor vehicles and six firearms.

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 42 arrests for serious crimes including assault GBH, fraud, bribery, domestic violence, common robbery, counterfeit money, house burglary, driving under the influence of alcohol, contravention of protection order, an illegal immigrant and malicious damage to property.
Forty-four hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 25 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
Six unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying six arrests.
In further policing 24 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.
Heroine, dagga, Mandrax, crystal methamphetamine and cocaine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigations continue into these cases.
The suspects will appear in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
