Operation O Kae Molao takes over Kempton Park

Vehicles got searched during Operation O Kae Molao.

Operation O Kae Molao hit Kempton Park on Thursday and saw motorists and vehicles searched.

Lieutenant Colonel Shadrack Maqcuntsu, Kempton Park SAPS members, social crime prevention co-ordinator Constable Mpho Sigida, as well as second-hand good officers took part in the operation.

Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego said a roadblock was held at the corner of Wellington Street and Pretoria Road where 112 vehicles and 181 people were searched.

“An awareness campaign for the Secondhand Goods Act 23 of 1988 was held along West Street to check on compliance and 100 educational pamphlets were handed out,” she said.

Ditshego said two suspects were arrested for public indecency and the operation continued to where several ATMs were monitored to prevent any criminal activities including ATM bombings.

Maqcuntsu thanked the dedication of the members who participated in the operation and ensured that such operations will happen continuously to keep Kempton Park a crime-free place.

He also asked the community to join hands with the police in the fight against crime.

Ditshego said those arrested will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.
