Police arrest 104 suspects and recover 46 vehicles and nine firearms

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate's courts across Gauteng.

Between March 29 and April 4, Rapid Response Services, comprising the Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 104 suspects and recovered 46 motor vehicles and nine firearms.

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

These operations led to 47 arrests for serious crimes, including assault common and GBH, possession of unlicensed ammunition, murder, sexual assault, possession of house-breaking implements, possession of suspected stolen property, business robbery, tampering with essential structure, rape and possession of illicit cigarettes.

A total of 46 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered, with 15 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

Nine unlicensed firearms were recovered, accompanying five arrests.

In further policing, 37 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroine, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigations continue in all cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
