16 suspects arrested as police recover drugs and stolen vehicles
Police arrested 16 suspects and recovered drugs, suspected stolen goods and two vehicles during operations across several areas between September 4 and 13.
Benoni Flying Squad officers arrested 16 suspects and recovered drugs and two vehicles between September 4 and September 13.
The unit’s communications officer, Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, said officers arrested 10 suspects aged 18 to 40 for drug-related offences in Ivory Park Extension 2, Kaalfontein, Rabie Ridge, Clayville, Etwatwa, Daveyton, and Emaphupheni.
Officers recovered crystal methamphetamine, nyaope, Mandrax, and cat during the operations.

“On Thursday, at around 19:30, members patrolling around Etwatwa noticed a suspicious white Toyota Etios with five occupants,” Giblin said.

“As they proceeded to check the vehicle, the driver jumped out and ran away, managing to escape. However, four female suspects aged 33 to 44 were arrested when members discovered various grocery items in the vehicle suspected to be stolen.”
The groceries were booked in as exhibits and the vehicle was impounded.
Giblin added that at about 22:00 the same evening, a complainant approached patrolling officers in Vusi Musi Section, Thembisa, to report a case of pointing a firearm.

The complainant identified two 36-year-old suspects who allegedly pointed a firearm at him after he alerted community patrollers to their alleged involvement in crime. Officers arrested the pair and detained them at Tembisa South Police Station.
Officers also recovered two abandoned vehicles: a red Volkswagen Polo in Saraseen Road, Rabie Ridge, reported stolen in Rabie Ridge, and a grey Mercedes-Benz GLC in Houtkapper Street, Norkem Park, taken during a house robbery in Randburg.
The suspects will appear in local magistrate’s courts on charges of possessing and dealing in drugs, possessing suspected stolen goods, and pointing a firearm.
Investigations continue in all cases.
