Man dies after he is hit by a car on R21

A case of culpable homicide was registered at the Olifantsfontein Police Station for further investigations.

Officers from the EMPD’s Freeway Unit responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on April 3.

The crash happened on the R21 heading north between the Engen one-stop filling station and the Olifantsfontein Road off-ramp.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the lifeless body of a man in his late 30s lying on the verge of the roadway and next to him was his blue bag with his lunch box inside.

The man was declared dead at the scene

The driver of a white SUV was treated on the scene for shock.

According to EMPD media liaison officer Marie Mashishi, a case of culpable homicide was registered at the Olifantsfontein Police Station for further investigations.
