CONFIRMED: Pomona businessman, Ashley Williams, kidnapped

According to police the suspects grabbed Williams and forced him into their silver Mercedes Benz before driving off.

The family of a kidnapped Pomona businessman, Ashley Williams, has requested the community for assistance in locating him.

A close family friend who asked to not be identified said Williams and some of his employees were robbed at his business premises in Pomona Road on May 3.

He told the Kempton Express the thieves robbed all employees of their wallets and cell phones. The men then forced Williams into their vehicle before driving off with him.

Anyone who may have information about Williams and his whereabouts contact their nearest police station, or 082 496 2825.

Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego confirmed a case of kidnapping and armed robbery was opened at the police station.

She also confirmed the armed assailants took two cellphones, wallets with bank cards and R14 000 in cash during the robbery.

“The victim was in a meeting with two employees in the business premises’ yard when four armed men approached them.

“The robbers forced the three victims to lie on the ground before searching them,” said Ditshego.

She said the robbers took belongings before the armed men asked for Williams.

“The suspects grabbed Williams and forced him into their silver Mercedes Benz and drove off.”

The police tested the vehicle registration plates and found the plates used on the vehicle were false,” said Ditshego.
