114 suspects arrested during operations by Gauteng SAPS

A total of 47 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with fourteen arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

Between May 31 and June 6, Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 114 suspects, recovering 47 motor vehicles and four firearms.

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

These operations led to 65 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, robbery, theft, possession of suspected stolen property, domestic violence, pointing of firearm, business burglary, shoplifting, bribery and house burglary.

A total of 47 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with fourteen arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

Four unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying four arrests.

In further policing, 31 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in all cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
