EMPD nabs two suspects for hijacking

The suspects are expected to appear at the Kempton Park Magistrates Court soon.

Two male suspects were arrested by EMPD Intervention Unit officers for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, in Olifantsfontein (R21), on November 25.

Zweli Dlamini, the EMPD spokesperson, said the incident happened around 22:05 when the members were proceeding to report for night shift duties.

Dlamini said the officers received information from a well-known tracking company about a hijacked white Toyota Hilux bakkie in the Thembisa area.

The officers acted on the information and followed the tracking coordinates that picked up the vehicle to be on the R21.

Dlamini said the officers spotted the vehicle matching the description and stopped it.

“Two men found inside the vehicle were arrested after failing to provide satisfactory answers for being in possession of the vehicle,” said Dlamini.

The vehicle was taken to Aeroton Police Pound and the suspects are expected to appear at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon.
