Two arrested for possession of illicit cigarettes in Thembisa
Both suspects were transported to the Thembisa SAPS and will face charges, including dealing in illicit cigarettes and obstruction of justice.
A team of law enforcers arrested two men in Thembisa for possession of illicit cigarettes and obstruction of justice during a midnight operation on December 10.
Officers from the EMPD Community Liaison Unit (CLU), in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, carried out the arrests.
Acting on information from a reliable source, the EMPD Specialised Services followed up on an Ethiopian man allegedly selling illicit cigarettes from his shop in Winnie Mandela Zone 2.

On arrival at the shop, officers confiscated 150 cartons of fake Rudland and George cigarettes, 160 cartons of Sharp cigarettes, 88 packets of various other cigarettes, and R1 000 in cash.
During the operation, a 40-year-old man attempted to interfere with the officers.
The officers took him into custody for obstruction of justice.
Both suspects were transported to the Thembisa SAPS and will face charges, including dealing in illicit cigarettes and obstruction of justice.
They will appear in court soon.
