Suspects caught for Sassa fraud in Thembisa
Police officers apprehended three male suspects and confiscated 250 Sassa cards on January 8.
Officers from the EMPD’s Community Liaison Unit (CLU), in collaboration with JMPD Tactical Response Unit Region E and Gautrans Special Law Enforcement Unit officers, apprehended three male suspects and confiscated 250 Sassa cards on January 8.
The multidisciplinary team was conducting operational duties when they intercepted a suspicious vehicle on Andrew Mapheto Drive in Thembisa.

On searching the vehicle the men were travelling in, officers discovered the Sassa cards.
One of the suspects admitted to using the cards for fraudulent activities.
The suspects were arrested and detained at Thembisa Police Station.
