Anton Bouwer: Case heads to High Court

Former Pomona businessman Anton Bouwer will now face five counts of murder when he appears in the Palm Ridge High Court on February 28.

This morning, February 7, 2025 the case against murder-accused former Pomona businessman Anton Bouwer was transferred to High Court.

According to the state the seriousness of the charges against Bouwer necessitated the transferal of the case.

He will face five counts of murder and one count of attempted murder when he appears in the Palm Ridge High Court on February 28.

During court proceedings in December last year, the court heard that the state was able to make a positive link between Bouwer and another case from 2011.

The case details from 2011 were not released in court and will form part of future proceedings.

Bouwer is accused of killing his parents, Bettie (73) and Robert (78) Bouwer, on January 22, 2024 at their house in Bredell.

He is also accused of killing his stepdaughter, Natasha Bouwer (22), and domestic worker, Elizabeth Mahlangu (56), at a house in Fairleads, Benoni, on the same day.

Bouwer will additionally face one charge of attempted murder for the shooting of his wife, Adelle.

During an appearance in court on March 5 last year, Bouwer abandoned his bail application.

He was remanded in custody until his next appearance in court.
