Elderly man killed in R21 crash, teen driver under investigation

Police are investigating whether the teen driver of the second vehicle may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

A fatal crash involving two vehicles occurred on the R21 highway, before the Pomona offramp, yesterday, March 9.

It is believed that an elderly couple, travelling in a silver Ford Fiesta after attending church, was involved in a rear-end collision.

The 78-year-old male driver succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

His wife sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Roseacres Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
