Police warn of scammers posing as home buyers in Kempton Park
Be cautious of unexpected visitors: If someone claims to be interested in buying property or seeking assistance, keep the doors locked and hold conversations outside.

The SAPS urge Kempton Park residents to stay vigilant after several home scams involving two females.
According to the Norkem Park SAPS, the duo has targeted homes using deception to gain entry.
“They often pose as potential home buyers or use other distractions to access properties,” said Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Barbara-Anne Ferreira-Dookie.

In recent incidents, they stole at least three cellphones in Birchleigh North, while the suspects were active in Kempton Park twice last week.
Ferreira-Dookie said the pair frequently alter their appearances by wearing wigs, hats and different clothing, making identification difficult.
“They also regularly switch vehicles, with no registration numbers linked to valid ownership.”
Police have shared these crime prevention tips to help residents avoid falling victim to these scams:
• Verify identities: Never allow strangers into your home without confirming their identity. Ask for identification and verify appointments beforehand.
• Be cautious of unexpected visitors: If someone claims to be interested in buying property or seeking assistance, keep the doors locked and hold conversations outside.
• Secure valuables: Keep cellphones, wallets and other valuables out of sight to prevent opportunistic theft.
• Report suspicious activity: If you notice individuals behaving suspiciously, contact the police.
• Use security measures: Install cameras, use intercom systems and do not open gates or doors without confirming the visitor’s identity.
