Glen Marais resident shot during home invasion

SAPS said a case of attempted murder, among other charges, are under investigation after items were allegedly taken during the incident.

A Glen Marais resident was shot during a home invasion incident in the early hours of this morning, May 28.

According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego, police were called to the scene at around 05:30.

“Sergeant Bruce Madingana responded to the call. On his arrival, the victim had already been taken to hospital for medical treatment,” said Ditshego.

She explained that a male suspect allegedly broke through burglar bars to gain entry into the house.

The homeowner reportedly heard movement inside and used a torch to investigate.

He was shot in the lower body. His brother was in another room at the time of the incident.

A laptop and a cellphone were allegedly stolen during the incident.

“We currently do not have a description of the suspect,” Ditshego added.

Police have confirmed that a case of attempted murder, among other charges, are under investigation.

SAPS is appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
