Drug and DUI crackdown: EMPD arrests 10 suspects across Ekurhuleni

EMPD officers arrested 10 individuals in a weekend sweep across Thembisa, Duduza, Springs, and Daveyton. Suspects were caught with Mandrax, dagga, and crystal meth, while two were arrested for drunk driving. All suspects face court appearances soon.

The arrests followed information received about individuals allegedly selling illegal substances within these communities.

Officers apprehended suspects who were found in possession of Mandrax tablets, crystal meth, rock, and dagga.

In separate incidents during the evening, officers arrested two motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol.

One driver was stopped after skipping a red traffic light, with officers detecting a strong smell of alcohol.

The driver was taken to the nearest healthcare centre for blood samples to be collected.

In another case in Springs, officers stopped a motorist driving recklessly and discovered he was under the influence of alcohol.

The suspects, aged between 23 and 40, were detained at their respective police stations and are facing charges related to the possession of illegal substances and driving under the influence of alcohol.

They are expected to appear in their respective magistrate’s courts soon.
