Murder case postponed as prison transport fails to arrive

Denise Hattingh and other female prisoners were not brought to the Kempton Park Regional Court from Johannesburg Prison today.

The murder case against former Kempton Park hairdresser Denise Hattingh was postponed yet again this afternoon, July 9, after she and other female prisoners were not brought to the Kempton Park Regional Court from Johannesburg Prison.

The reason for the failure to transport Hattingh and the other prisoners to court has not yet been established.

As a result, the matter was postponed to July 17.

Hattingh’s case was last postponed on July 3 as the court awaited directives from the Director of Public Prosecutions before a trial date could be set.

On July 3 it was revealed that the case docket was still with the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), with the court awaiting directives before a trial date can be set.

Once the docket is returned, the matter will be placed on the roll for trial either in the regional court or at the high court.
