On July 9, when Hattingh was scheduled to appear before the court, she and other female prisoners were not brought to the Kempton Park Regional Court from Johannesburg Prison. The reason for the failure to transport Hattingh and the other prisoners to court has not yet been established. Earlier this year, it was revealed that the case docket was still with the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), with the court awaiting directives before a trial date can be set. Hattingh’s previous appearance on June 19 was postponed due to an outstanding medical report, while a similar postponement occurred on June 5 as the court awaited a report from Johannesburg Prison. Hattingh’s attorney, Obed Lewete, confirmed that Hattingh was doing well. “We are ready for trial on any given date,” he said.
