Women in law enforcement lead Operation Basadi during Women’s Month
Female officers from SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Police, EMPD, Traffic Wardens and Modderbee Correctional Services united for Operation Basadi, highlighting women’s role in law enforcement and community safety while making key arrests and issuing fines.
In celebration of Women’s Month, female officers from the SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Police, EMPD, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, and Modderbee Correctional Services joined forces for an integrated Operation Basadi on Kingsway Road near Modderbee Correctional Services on August 15.
By 09:00, the officers had assembled for a parade before commencing the day’s duties. The parade underscored the crucial role women play in law enforcement, maintaining law and order, promoting road safety, and ensuring community security.

“With women at the forefront, we are showcasing that female officers are just as capable of carrying out their duties independently, having undergone the same training as their male counterparts,” Sekele said.
The operation yielded significant results. One man was arrested after providing false information about his driver’s licence and identification. A total of 53 traffic fines, valued at R17 950, were issued.
