Suspected kidnapping kingpin killed on R21 in Kempton Park

A suspected kidnapping kingpin was killed this afternoon, September 3, during a shootout with police and private security on the R21 freeway.

The incident unfolded shortly after 16:30 at the Voortrekker Road offramp in Kempton Park, prompting authorities to urge motorists to avoid the area.

According to reports on social media, the Mozambican national opened fire when confronted by authorities, sparking a high-speed chase that stretched over several kilometres.

The man is believed to have been linked to several kidnappings in South Africa and is also wanted in Mozambique.
