Gauteng Flying Squad and K9 Units arrest 102 suspects in week-long crime blitz
Gauteng Rapid Response Services recovered 47 stolen vehicles, seized unlicensed firearms, and made over 100 arrests during operations between 22 and 28 August, targeting serious and drug-related crimes across the province.
From August 22 to August 28, Gauteng Rapid Response Services, including the Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol members, made significant strides in tackling crime, arresting a total of 102 suspects, recovering 47 vehicles, and seizing two unlicensed firearms.
During this period, members conducted concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts, and intensive patrols across the province.
These efforts led to 42 arrests for serious crimes, including assault, attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, housebreaking, domestic violence, extortion, fraud, rape, tampering with essential infrastructure, and contravention of protection orders, among others.

In addition, 47 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered, resulting in four arrests for possession of these vehicles.
Two unlicensed firearms were also seized, leading to the arrest of four individuals.
The operations further targeted drug-related crimes, resulting in 52 arrests for possession and dealing in drugs, with substances including heroin, dagga, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, and mandrax confiscated.
Investigations into all these cases are ongoing, with suspects due to appear in various Magistrates’ Courts across Gauteng.
Operations continued over the weekend.
On Saturday, August 30, the Benoni Flying Squad arrested a 33-year-old suspect on Station Road, Brakpan, recovering crystal methamphetamine.
The individual is set to appear in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court, with investigations continuing.
Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, media liaison officer, confirmed that these coordinated policing efforts demonstrate the commitment of Gauteng’s law enforcement agencies to combat crime and ensure public safety.
