The matter was originally scheduled for September 1, following a July 17 court date when that date was set for her plea and trial to begin. However, the court later moved it to September 8, before postponing again at her latest appearance. The case has faced a series of delays. On July 9, Hattingh and several other female prisoners were not transported from Johannesburg Prison to Kempton Park Regional Court. The reason they were not brought to court remains unclear. Earlier in the year, proceedings were also held up while the case docket remained with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for directives. Hattingh’s appearance on June 19 was postponed due to an outstanding medical report, while a similar delay occurred on June 5 as the court awaited a report from Johannesburg Prison. Her attorney, Obed Lewete, said Hattingh was in good health and prepared to move forward. “We are ready for trial on any given date,” he confirmed. Hattingh is accused of murdering 29-year-old Markus Greeff on May 15, 2024, at a property on West Street in Pomona. She was arrested the following day. #kemptonexpress #kemptonpark #crimetok #Crime #SAPS #kempton #TiktokNews #Murder #court #incourt #DeniseHattingh ♬ original sound KemptonExpress
