Police make six arrests, recover drugs and contraband vehicle
Benoni Flying Squad members arrested six suspects and recovered drugs, illicit cigarettes and a hijacked vehicle in operations across Etwatwa, Kempton Park, Birchleigh, and Tembisa.
Benoni Flying Squad members arrested six people and recovered drugs and a vehicle between September 29 and October 4.
Members arrested four people in separate incidents for possession of drugs on Long and Casuarina streets, Kempton Park, recovering Mandrax and crystal meth.
Members patrolling the R555, Etwatwa, on October 3 at 05:30, noticed a vehicle parked next to the road with two males offloading something in the bushes and did a U-turn to investigate. Upon doing so, one person ran to the vehicle and escaped.

The members apprehended the second person and found 18 large bags of dagga with an estimated value of R50 000 that they had offloaded. The dagga was handed in as an exhibit.
On October 4, at 11:30, members followed up on information about illicit cigarettes that led to a spaza shop in Birchleigh. There, they arrested a 35-year-old foreign national after finding 12 cartons of illegal cigarettes.
In further policing, members recovered an abandoned hijacked white Kia at Lekaneng Section, Tembisa. It was reported on a Tembisa South case.
Investigations continue in these cases.
The suspects will appear in the local magistrates’ courts on charges of possession of and dealing in drugs and possession of illicit cigarettes.
