Gauteng Rapid Response arrests 108 suspects, recovers vehicles and firearms
Rapid Response Services across Gauteng, including Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol, arrested 108 suspects between October 17 and October 23.
Rapid Response Services, comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 108 suspects and recovered 47 motor vehicles and eight firearms between October 17 and 23.
Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts, and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 45 arrests for serious crimes, including assault (common and GBH), discharging a firearm in a built-up area, theft, possession of stolen property, possession of housebreaking equipment, housebreaking, use of a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, malicious damage to property, pointing of a firearm, possession of illicit cigarettes, shoplifting, illegal immigration, reckless and negligent driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Officers recovered 47 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles, resulting in 19 arrests for possession of these vehicles. Eight unlicensed firearms were also recovered, accompanying eight arrests.
In further policing operations, 36 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.
Heroin, dagga, Cat (cocaine), mandrax, and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigations are ongoing in these cases. The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrates’ courts across Gauteng.
