Five suspects arrested as police recover hijacked truck, drugs and firearm
Members arrested two suspects in Barcelona, Etwatwa. Crystal methamphetamine and Mandrax were recovered.
Benoni Flying Squad members arrested five suspects and recovered a truck, drugs and one firearm between October 17 and October 19.
On October 17, at around 10:00, members on patrol noticed a man sitting with three yellow bags under a tree at the N12 and Tom Jones off-ramp.
They stopped and approached the man to investigate.

On searching they found that the bags contained dagga which led to the immediate arrest of the 55-year-old suspect.
The suspect was detained at Benoni SAPS while the dagga, with an estimated value of R10 000, was booked as an exhibit.
On the same day, at around 13:30, members monitoring a community crime group received a lookout for a white Nissan UD truck hijacked in Benoni.
The information reported the truck proceeded on Snake Road taking R554 towards Boksburg. Members immediately raced to the vicinity, where they received information from a security vehicle that he was behind the truck.
Members soon caught up to them and, together with two private security companies, pulled the truck over in Kingfisher Street, Freeway Park, Boksburg.
Two suspects in the truck were immediately arrested and one 9mm Norinco with four live rounds of ammunition was recovered.
On October 19, two suspects were arrested in Barcelona, Etwatwa. Crystal methamphetamine and Mandrax were recovered.
Investigations continues in this cases.
