Police operation across Gauteng nets 76 arrests, 42 vehicles and a firearm recovered

A total number of 42 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 11 arrests for the possession of these vehicles. One unlicensed firearm was recovered.

Police Emergency Services, comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 76 suspects, recovered 42 motor vehicles and one firearm, between October 31 and November 6.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle check points, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 33 arrests for serious crimes, including common assault and GBH, possession of stolen property, reckless and negligent driving, driving under the influence, robbery, theft, possession of a dangerous weapon, murder, illegal immigrants and armed robbery.

A total of 42 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered, with 11 arrests for the possession of these vehicles. One unlicensed firearm was recovered.

In further policing, 32 arrests were made for the possession and dealing of drugs.

Heroine, dagga, cat (cocaine), mandrax, and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigation continues in these cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrates’ courts across Gauteng.
