Flying squad nabs four, recovers gun, signal jammer

A flying squad crackdown led to four arrests and the recovery of a gun and a signal jammer.

Benoni Flying Squad members arrested four people and recovered a signal jammer and a gun between November 13 and 14.
On November 12, members patrolling Etwatwa in the Bester Section arrested two illegal immigrants.

Members operationalised information regarding a firearm on November 13, which led them to a house in Tsenelong Section, Thembisa. They arrested a man after finding a 9mm pistol with the name and serial numbers filed off.

A second person was arrested when his black bag revealed a signal jammer inside.

The suspects were detained at the Tembisa SAPS, and the exhibits were handed in.

Investigations continue.

The suspects will appear in various magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of car jamming equipment and illegal immigration.
