Flying squad arrests eight suspects, seizes drugs and stolen copper cables

Benoni and Kempton Park police intercepted multiple vehicles in early December, recovering drugs worth tens of thousands of rands and copper cables valued at R100 000, leading to eight arrests.

Benoni Flying Squad members arrested eight people after finding drugs and copper cables on December 2 and 4.

On December 2, members assisted the CPF after it pulled over a Mazda BT50 on Benoni Road in Jatniel. Found carrying copper cables valued at R100 000, two people were arrested.

Members patrolling Kempton Park on December 4 saw a Chevrolet Aveo skip a stop street on the corner of Highveld and Partridge roads.

The car had one occupant and was pulled over. Members noticed three boxes of pain syrup in the back seat. One man was arrested after he could not produce documentation for the medicines, valued at R5 000.

Later the same day, members followed up on information about a Scania truck transporting dagga to Mpumalanga.
