EMPD arrests 42 undocumented foreign nationals during citywide enforcement blitz

Officers visited hotspot areas in aid to curb the high number of undocumented foreign nationals in the boarders of the Republic.

Between December 1 and December 6, the EMPD’s Specialised Services Unit apprehended 42 undocumented foreign nationals aged between 24 and 72 from various African countries across the city.

While conducting law enforcement duties, EMPD officers focused on hotspot areas to address the high number of undocumented individuals within the borders of the Republic.

On questioning, the suspects were unable to provide satisfactory reasons for not being in possession of valid passports.

As a result, all 42 males were handcuffed and escorted to various police stations for detention.

Immigration services were notified to conduct further investigations into the suspects’ identification documents.

All those apprehended are facing charges for contravening the Immigration Act and are expected to appear in the Magistrates’ Courts in the jurisdictions where they were arrested.
