Armed suspect arrested after threatening partner in Kempton Park

A 30-year-old male was arrested and charged with pointing of a firearm under the Domestic Violence Act on Christmas Day.

A swift response by Kempton Park SAPS members Sgt Vonani Maluleke and Cst Goeiman led to the arrest of a suspect following a domestic violence-related complaint on December 25.

“Police were alerted after a woman arrived at the Kempton Park SAPS to report that her boyfriend had threatened to shoot her at their place of residence,” said Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Dipuo Ditshego.

Sgt Maluleke and Cst Goeiman responded immediately and proceeded to an address in North Rand, Kempton Park.

“On arrival, the complainant pointed out the suspect. Police found the man in possession of a licensed firearm, one magazine and 17 rounds of live ammunition,” she said.

“A 30-year-old male was arrested and charged with pointing of a firearm under the Domestic Violence Act, as well as intimidation.”

The suspect is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon.
