Mafole murder case transferred to Johannesburg High Court

Kiki Mafole, the father of murdered Mpho Mafole, said the family is seeking closure as they continue to mourn their loss.

Thabani Goodwill Ntshalintshali appeared before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on January 30 for a decision on the movement of his case.

The court ruled that the matter be transferred to the Gauteng Local Division, Johannesburg (Johannesburg High Court), where it will proceed to a pre-trial hearing.

Ntshalintshali remains in custody and is expected to appear for pre-trial on March 24. He will be transferred to Johannesburg Prison ahead of the hearing.

During proceedings, Ntshalintshali requested to be moved to Modabi Prison to allow his family easier access, citing the distance to Johannesburg Prison. His request was denied.

Kiki Mafole, the father of the late Mpho Mafole, said the family is seeking closure as they continue to mourn their loss.

“I am a bit relieved, but we are deeply hurting. The mother is hurting. Mpho was our only child and he was very close to us,” said Mafole.

“Mpho’s mother is very weak. Every time she thinks about him and this matter, she starts crying. It is very sad. What we know is that God will be with us.

“All we want is to know who ordered the hit. Mpho’s killing was planned and we want closure. He must tell us who organised it and why Mpho was killed. The truth must come out so that we, as a family, can find closure.”

Ntshalintshali is accused of the murder of Ekurhuleni’s group divisional head for corporate and forensic audits, Mpho Mafole, who was killed on June 30, 2025 in Kempton Park.
