Kempton Park murder accused’s case moved to Johannesburg High Court

Thabani Ntshalintshali remains in custody as pre-trial for the murder of Ekurhuleni official is set for March 24.

Thabani Goodwill Ntshalintshali appeared in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on January 30 for a case management hearing.

The court has moved Ntshalintshali’s case to the Gauteng Local Division, Johannesburg (Johannesburg High Court) for a pre-trial.

Ntshalintshali remains in custody and is scheduled for the pre-trial on March 24.

He will be transferred to Johannesburg Prison ahead of the hearing.

Ntshalintshali requested a transfer to Modabi Prison to allow his family easier access, as they live far from Johannesburg, but the request was denied.

Kiki Mafole, father of the late Mpho Mafole, said the family is seeking closure and wants to know who was behind his son’s murder.
“I am a bit relieved, but we are deeply hurt.

Mpho was our only child and very close to us. His mother is still weak and breaks down whenever she thinks about him,” said Mafole.

“All we want is for the truth to come out, we want to know who organised the hit and why. Only then can our family have closure.”

Ntshalintshali is accused of murdering Ekurhuleni’s Group Divisional Head for Corporate and Forensic Audits, Mpho Mafole, on June 30 in Kempton Park.

He made his first court appearance on July 23 last year.

At the time of Mafole’s murder, Ntshalintshali was out on bail for another murder case.
