Officers enforce traffic compliance on R21 and N12 over Easter weekend

A total of 32 pedestrians were arrested and later released with warnings from the Kempton Park and Benoni Police Stations.

On March 31 and April 1, the EMPD’s Overloads Unit carried out a vehicle and driver fitness, as well as pedestrian, operation along the R21 and N12 freeways in the Kempton Park and Benoni areas.

With increased traffic as commuters travelled to other provinces for the long weekend, the operation focused on removing pedestrians from the freeways, whose presence poses a serious risk to motorists.
