Four killed in suspected targeted attack on Zuurfontein Road

Police allege a sedan stopped behind the victims' vehicle before three armed suspects exited and opened fire from both sides of the vehicle.

Police are investigating a case of multiple murder after four men were shot and killed in what appears to have been a targeted attack in Sebenza on Saturday evening.

According to SAPS district spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, officers responded to reports of a shooting on Zuurfontein Road, near Restoration Church and China Gate, at about 18:15 on July 25.

“On arrival at the scene, it was established that an unknown white sedan allegedly approached a motor vehicle occupied by four male persons believed to be Pakistani nationals,” said Sekgobela.

Police allege the sedan stopped behind the victims’ vehicle before three armed suspects got out and opened fire from both sides of the vehicle.

All four occupants sustained fatal gunshot wounds.

Following the shooting, the victims’ vehicle lost control, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a roadside barrier.

Emergency Medical Services declared all four occupants dead at the scene.

Police recovered multiple spent 9mm cartridges from the crime scene.

The motive for the attack is unknown, and no arrests have been made. Police investigations are ongoing.
